A mobile payments partnership between Samsung and MasterCard has struck for the second time – this time with a Russian bank.

Users of Russian Standard Bank’s mobile banking app can now make tap and go payments using certain Samsung smartphones at point-of-sale terminals that support MasterCard’s Paypass technology.

The service is currently only available with 4G versions of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, both NFC-enabled devices.

However the services will also be accessible by the 3G versions of these handsets following a system update to be carried out within the next month.

Consumers do not need to be clients of the Russian bank to access the service, so long as they download the bank’s app to their Samsung devices.

The first linkup between MasterCard and Samsung came in Australia at the end of last year when the partners worked with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
