Respondents to a Mobile Money Live poll have come out in favour of mobile operators working together on NFC-based services as well as infrastructure. Essentially this is an endorsement of the approach of Isis, the consortia of mobile operators in the US. Elsewhere, particularly in Europe, mobile operators have teamed up on building NFC infrastructure but will compete on mobile money services. However half the respondents in our poll voted in favour of co-operation for both network and services.

A further one quarter of respondents favoured a radically different option: Instead of forming consortia mobile operators should partner with a financial institution such as a bank or credit card provider. However only a minority of respondents (12 percent) agree that operators should team up for infrastructure deployment and the same figure see the best approach for operators as going it alone.
