UK mobile operator Orange is working with a partner to deploy NFC in the UK’s transport sector. Plans to announce a deal are “imminent” according to TechRadar. The publication says the most obvious application would be for the Oyster scheme in London. Jason Rees, the director of mobile payments and ticketing with Everything Everywhere (the merger between Orange and T-Mobile) would not comment on the identity of the partner but said the operator is keen to follow up the initial launch of its Quick Tap NFC service and picked out the transport sector where he said the operator was working with one partner in particular. Orange initially launched Quick Tap with Barclaycard for payment services.
