The Polish unit of Orange and local player mBank, which is part of Germany’s Commerzbank, will launch mobile financial services in the second half of 2014 via a new joint venture.

The partners will offer services aimed at both individual customers, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, including mobile payments, current accounts, loans, deposits, as well as credit and debit cards.

Orange Polska will be responsible for marketing and acquisition of customers for the joint venture, while mBank is going to provide banking services to the customers. For this purpose the bank will establish a new branch that will be part of its existing structure.

However, this is not the partners’ first experience of working together. The two linked up with MasterCard to launch an commerical NFC-based payment service at the end of 2012.
