Elizabeth Buse (pictured), who formerly ran international operations for Visa, is taking the co-CEO role at Monitise alongside incumbent Alastair Lukies. Visa holds a 12 per cent stake in the mobile money technology firm.

Buse stepped down from her previous role with the credit card giant in March this year. But she has a history with Monitise – she was a member of its board from July 2010 to October 2012.

The CEO role is getting crowded as deputy CEO Lee Cameron is still in place. Cameron is also the firm’s chief commercial officer.

The idea is for Buse to head day-to-day operations overseeing technology, product, sales and marketing, while Lukies puts his effort on key relationships with what is termed “partners, industry stakeholders, corporate development and major shareholders”.

In the mobile market, Monitise works with Telefonica, Samsung, PCCW Mobile, Turkcell and BlackBerry.

In addition, the firm has appointed two new non-executive directors. Amanda Burton is Clifford Chance’s global chief operating officer. Paulette Garafalo is the president of Brooks Brothers’  international, wholesale and manufacturing business.
