In both the US and Europe, consumers on mobile devices spend nearly twice as much through digital channels overall as those shoppers not buying on their phones, and 70 per cent of digital wallet users take advantage of one or more wallets at least monthly. Those are the conclusions from a new report by the GSMA.

And beacons, smartphones and the cloud will combine to further spread the take-up of m-commerce in terms of payments as well as coupons and offers, the report said.

However, the report cautions that security concerns and a lack of adoption incentives must be addressed.

An analytical contribution to the report was made by Consult Hyperion, the UK consultancy that specialises in mobile money.
