LoopPay, the US firm whose technology enables retailers to accept mobile payments without needing a hardware upgrade, is lining up a number of high-profile international launches, according to an interview given with the Press Trust of India.

“We are looking at expanding our presence in late 2015 including India. We believe India, China and Japan would have an appetite for this technology,” said LoopPay CMO Gregory Mann during last week’s International CES event in Vegas.

The firm has developed its own Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, which enables retailers to accept payments from shoppers equipped with mobile phones without changing their existing in-store hardware.

However, users do have to carry a fob or add a card case to their mobile phone in order to make a payment.

It was recently reported that LoopPay was in talks about a partnership with Samsung, which has boosted the company’s profile.
