Mobile payments venture Isis will offer users the chance via a pilot to add Visa consumer credit cards issued by US bank Wells Fargo to its mobile wallet.

Users will be able to make mobile payments, redeem coupons and present their loyalty cards via their NFC-based smartphones.

“During this pilot phase with Isis, we will test and learn with customers who want to be on the leading edge of this technology,” said Peter Ho, manager of digital payments for Wells Fargo’s consumer financial services group.

Isis said the pilot is the first phase of an agreement with Wells Fargo although it offered no commercial launch date.

The venture has previously piloted credit cards from four banks in its wallet – Amex, Barclaycard, Capital One and Chase. So far, Amex and Chase have said they will definitely include their cards in Isis’ recently announced nationwide commercial launch.

In addition, users can open an American Express Serve account into which they add money with their preferred credit, debit or US bank account.

To access the Isis service, users with more than 50 NFC smartphone models from AT&T, T-Mobile US or Verizon Wireless need to obtain an enhanced SIM from their operator and then download the Isis app for free from Google Play store.

The mobile wallet will enable contactless payments at “hundreds of thousands” of merchants around the US.
