LIVE FROM MONEY 2020 EUROPE, COPENHAGEN: Singaporean vendor GoSwiff launched a new line of business which aims to support mobile operators in providing a range of payment services.

“Alternative payment methods offer a great opportunity for MNOs to differentiate their proposition to the market and to develop additional services, leveraging the existing merchant accounts and getting new ones on board,”  said the announcement.

The new line of business is called Professional Managed Services.

The vendor argues consumer-facing services including mobile money, airtime top up, closed loop cards and remittances are all revenue generating opportunities for operators, as well as offering options for launching new mobile financial services in the future.

The vendor also suggests that operators might have a B2B opportunity in providing smart Point of Sale (PoS) platforms to merchants. A growing smartphone penetration, a large number of SMEs and micro merchants, as well as low penetration of conventional PoS terminals leaves a market open for operators, particularly in emerging markets, it suggests.

GoSwiff already works with operators, including Ooredoo and Globe Telecom.
