Google is working “to resolve issues that may arise with Google Wallet”, the company’s newly launched NFC-based service, according to its website.  The company lists two potential headaches users might encounter.  Firstly, they may be unable to add their Citi MasterCard to the Google Wallet. The Citi MasterCard is the only credit card that currently works with Google’s new service (although the company does offer its own pre-paid card as an alternative) “We are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible”, says Google. The company adds that users trying to add the Citi card between 9pm Pacific Time on Saturday and 3am Sunday may have had a problem due to weekly Citi maintenance. “If you are receiving an error, we advise that you try again at a different time”, it says.

The second teething problem is that users might not receive an activation code to use their Citi credit card in the Google Wallet. The code “may be sent to a mobile or home phone number that you no longer use”.  If the user has changed the information in their Citi account in the past 30 days then the activation code will be sent physically via mail to their home address, the website adds.

According to Computerworld, another problem facing Google’s wallet is that the over-the-air updates for Nexus S smartphones “are going slowly and the app did not reach all users by late Friday, when Google had said the update would be rolled out”.  The app is necessary for Sprint subscribers with the Nexus S smartphones to use the Google Wallet service. They are the only subscribers at present who can access the service.
