Google has updated its mobile wallet with a new user interface and improvements to battery usage and app stability, reports NFC World.

The NFC-enabled Google Wallet app now has three tabs. The ‘My Wallet’ tab provides information on the default funding source and an option to change or add cards. Other options in this section include offers, reward cards and gift cards.

The ‘Transactions’ tab provides details on purchases and the funding source used while the ‘Explore’ section shows featured and nearby offers that can be added to individual mobile wallets.

Android Police reports that the update also fixes issues with the NFC element of the mobile wallet for Nexus 4 smartphone owners.

The update still falls short of the major upgrade that was promised in October 2012 and originally expected in November. It has still to appear. This new version is rumoured to include support for transit cards, peer-to-peer money transfers and account deposit and withdrawals.
