An unnamed football club in the English Premier League is trialling a branded digital wallet which allows supporters to download mobile coupons to use within the club’s stadium, as well as collect loyalty points, place offline bets and view club-related content.

The trial was revealed by vendor Zergo in a trading update that also mentioned a number of other contracts it has won.

The club, which was the only client not named, will continue with its mobile coupon trial for the rest of the 2012/13 season before a full deployment in 2013/14.

Other Zergo clients include the Compass Group, Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. Zergo also said it will begin a second phase of its rollout with O2 Ireland which will offer a loyalty programme where users collect points at participating merchants.
