A new mobile payment service, backed by the country’s leading financial institutions, has launched commercially in Bulgaria.

The service, which is called Mobb, is provided by Borica Bankservice, a company owned by the country’s central bank and its 27 commercial banks.

It enable users to make purchases in shops over the existing point-of-sale infrastructure.

The announcement said the service is available for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone with BlackBerry to come.

In addition to in-store payments, other services include P2P money transfer, balance statement and transaction history.

Swedish vendor Accumulate provided the mobile security technology for the service.
