Braintree, the US payments vendor which is handling a growing volume of transactions from mobile devices, is to offer its Venmo Touch app to card issuers and mobile banking providers.

As part of its strategy, the vendor is working with Simple, a provider of mobile and online banking. The move gives Simple’s customers access to Venmo Touch.

Braintree is attempting to add further transaction volume by partnering with banks and card issuers. Up to now, its focus has been working with app developers.

At present, the company’s mobile traffic is of the online variety rather than physical payments in locations such as shops and restaurants. In an interview earlier this year, Braintree was coy about its intention for offline payments.
