Payleven has struck an agreement with Apple to sell its mobile point-of-sale reader in the Cupertino giant’s European stores, both physical and online, according to The Next Web.

Payleven’s card reader is currently sold in Germany, the UK, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and Brazil, in which it is locked in competition with several rivals.

A partnership with Apple will give Payleven’s chip & PIN reader a boost.

This is not the first card reader to be sold by Apple. It has been selling Square’s card reader for over two years, although that product is available only in North America and, recently, Japan.

According to Payleven, Apple chose its product because of its “high security standards, market potential and availability in several European core markets”.
