Nordstrom is one of the US retailers working with Apple on its mobile wallet and payments rollout, according to Bank Innovation.

The news follows reports over the last few days of Apple adopting NFC technology for the forthcoming iPhone launch (9 September) and striking partnerships with American Express, MasterCard and Visa.

Working with retailers would be consistent with that strategy. Leading department store Nordstrom is the first named retail partner for Apple.

Mind you, it also been suggested that Apple might also use its new relationships with leading credit card firms to reach retailers.

Nordstrom has updated its mobile point-of-sale systems “in the last few weeks” to work with the iPhone, said the report.
