Mary Carol Harris has left her position as Visa Europe’s director of mobile to work for Apple.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Harris is now working for Apple Europe, first reported by NFC Times.

Apple Pay is initially available in the US and, although no other dates have been given, the company is looking to expand worldwide so it would make sense for a European launch to be in the pipeline.

And Harris will be joined in her new home by Duncan Olby, Visa Europe’s executive director for digital development, another appointee at Apple Europe.

In addition, the report said European banks have expressed interest in Apple Pay but sources expressed doubts whether they would be willing to surrender any of their transaction fee to Apple, as US peers have been willing to do.

Transaction fees are generally lower in Europe than US, it said.

US banks allied with Apple Pay include Bank of America, Capital One Bank, Chase, Citi, and Wells Fargo, in addition to the three payments networks American Express, MasterCard and Visa
