Visa and Mastercard cardholders with six local banks can pay for transactions both online and instore using Android Pay.

Pali Bhat, a senior director of product management with Google, blogged that the payment service is available at over 5,000 locations in Hong Kong where contactless is accepted.

This includes well-known local retailers such as 7-Eleven, Circle K, Fortress, Mannings, Maxim’s Cakes, MX, McDonald’s, Pacific Coffee, Parknshop, Smartone, Watsons and Wellcome.

The service also works with apps including Boutir Collect, Deliveroo, Kaligo, Klook and Snaptee.

Android Pay’s six banking partners are BEA, DBS, Dah Sing Bank, Hang Seng Bank, HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank. Customers can add multiple cards to their mobile wallets, and choose which to use when they reach checkout.
