American Express credit cards will appear in Isis’s mobile wallet when the mobile operator-based joint venture launches later this year, the two companies have announced.  Amex cardholders will be able to make NFC-based payments from the Isis wallet on their mobile phones when the service is launched in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Austin, Texas, later in 2012.

Holders of Amex consumer, small business and Serve cards are all covered by the agreement. Serve is Amex’s new digital payments and commerce platform. Last year Amex announced its payment network would work with Isis. The other leading networks (Visa and MasterCard) also announced they would work with the mobile venture at the same time. Isis is a joint venture between AT&T, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA.
