Korean mobile operator KT has launched a new mobile wallet called MoCa that enables subscribers to make point-of-sale payments via NFC, barcode scanning and QR codes. Online payments are available too.

Initially available domestically, the operator wants to offer the wallet in overseas markets.

The wallet was announced by the operator last week. In addition to bank cards, subscribers can also store coupons, loyalty cards and offers in their wallets.

KT has also announced the MoCa Alliance whose participants include banks, retailers, eBay Korea and UNICEF.

Both iOS and Android versions of the wallet app are available.

KT has also applied for international patents in a number of countries including the US, China, Japan and the UK.

The wallet was developed by KT and IT provider Harex Infotech.
