Mobile online texting app developer WhatsApp has reportedly breached the privacy of users, reports Paid Content.
CEO of Silicon Valley software company Amazing Controls, Raj Marya, reported that when he sent a text using WhatsApp recommending rival service Ping Me over WhatsApp, he received a reply from WhatsApp sarcastically suggesting he switch to PingMe “since it’s so free and awesome.” He then claims WhatsApp deleted his user account.
Marya provided PaidContent with screengrabs of the text conversation.
If the allegations are true, it suggests WhatsApp is monitoring and interfering with the personal conversations of customers when they recommend alternative services.
WhatsApp did not respond to Paid Content’s attempts to contact the company.
