Kuwait-based operator group Zain has reported a 7 percent increase in net income for the first nine months of 2011 compared to a year previously, despite US$100 million-worth of losses due to currency fluctuations. The group achieved net income of US$762.5 million on the back of revenues of US$3.6 billion, a 2.2 percent increase. The group added 6.1 million customers during the past year, a 17 percent increase that brings its total user base to 41.4 million.
