Computerworld New Zealand said that Tom Chignell, Vodafone’s head of corporate affairs in the country, has called for operators to be able to bid for up to 20MHz of spectrum in the 700MHz band, which is set to become available after the digital TV switchover in 2013. This would mean there is enough spectrum available to licence two operators. Chignell was against the concept of sharing a network, arguing that “owning your own network is, we believe, the best way of differentiating your service.”
