Vodafone eyes health opportunity in Myanmar

12 APR 2013

Vodafone plans to offer mobile health and education services in Myanmar, if its joint bid for a mobile licence in the country with China Mobile is successful, according to the Financial Times.

The country’s government is said to want the mobile licence to be a catalyst for wider economic and social progress.

Vodafone would also offer its M-Pesa mobile money service if its joint bid for a licence is successful.

Health, education and money services could be popular in a country where resources are in short supply, and might also have an attraction for its government when it comes to choosing licence winners.
