South Africa-based Vodacom Group said that Pieter Uys, its chief executive, is to step down at the end of March 2013 after almost 20 years with the company, including four years at the helm. He is being replaced by Shameel Joosub, the current chief executive of Vodafone Spain and a former Vodacom MD and board member, who joins on 1 September “to ensure a smooth transition and handover.”
