Voalte, which provides communication solution to US hospitals, has raised US$6M from unnamed backers which, the company says, includes a “healthcare information technology leader” and a “major healthcare system”.

The company says it will use the additional funds to expand its operations which will involve creating an additional 100 jobs, growing its workforce from 50 to 150 employees over the next 18 months. It also plans to work more with its development partners on its solution and make additions to its product line.

Voalte’s iOS-based solution enables nurses and doctors to communicate directly using voice, alarms and text. The solution is deployed in a number of US hospitals.  The company says it has over 20,000 users and over 5,000 iPhones deployed to date.
