Russian mobile operator VimpelCom has been given permission to merge with seven regional subsidiaries it has acquired since 2008, reports Telegeography. The Federal Antimonopoly Service endorsed the plan in November but VimpelCom required boardroom approval, which was given on 31 January. The subsidiaries included operators in Nizhniy Novgorod and Murmansk.
