Canadian mobile new-entrant Videotron says that it has added 8,400 mobile subscribers during the third quarter, taking its total to 95,400, after stopping new activations to its MVNO services and launching its own HSPA network on 9 September 2010. It says that “the number would be higher if Videotron had been able to fully meet the demand for smartphones.” The quad-play operator says that mobile services have been available to around 70 percent of its existing customer base since launch, and it is continuing the build-out of its network in Quebec. Canada’s Globe and Mail says that the mobile numbers were well below analyst expectations.
