Taiwanese operator Vibo Telecom has launched a trial TD-SCDMA network in Taipei City, notes TeleGeography, citing a DigiTimes report. The experimental network covers the Neihu Technology Park and is intended to allow the capital’s equipment manufacturers to develop and test TD-SCDMA and dual-mode TD-SCDMA/WCDMA devices. The core network for the trial was provided by China’s ZTE, while the radio access networks were supplied by both ZTE and Datang Telecom Technology. The project reportedly cost Vibo around TWD50 million (US$1.54 million) to deploy.
