Six US senators have requested the State Department to investigate whether Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei violated US law by selling technology to Iran, reports Bloomberg. The lawmakers say the company’s past actions could contravene a 2010 US Iran sanctions law, which prohibits the US government from dealing with companies that export telecommunications technology to Iran. Huawei previously admitted selling equipment to MTN Irancell but denied it has been used for censorship. It subsequently said it would restrict business in Iran because of the country’s “increasingly complex situation.”
