Dow Jones Newswires reports that the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said it will review Apple’s patent claims against Motorola, an action that could lead to an eventual ban of Motorola’s smartphones. In a Web post on Tuesday, the ITC said it would investigate Apple’s claim that Motorola’s smartphones violate six Apple patents for touchscreen and multitouch technology, as well as ways to display, access and interact with information. Some of the patents involve technology used in Motorola’s popular Droid lineup of phones, which uses Google’s Android operating system.
