The popular microblogging service Twitter yesterday launched a Japan-based mobile version, hoping to penetrate a country where other US social networking sites including Facebook and MySpace have failed to capture much ground, according to an AP report. Meanwhile the company also announced a deal with India’s largest operator Bharti Airtel on Wednesday that will allow users of the service to send ‘tweets’ at standard SMS rates and receive them for free.
