TruePosition accuses Ericsson, Alca-Lu and Qualcomm of location foul-play

22 JUL 2011

Location technology company TruePosition filed a lawsuit alleging that “three of the largest telecommunications companies in the world are illegally conspiring to eliminate” its emergency positioning technology. In a statement, it said that Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent and Qualcomm have “hijacked” the standards setting organisations that govern which location technology will be adopted in LTE networks, accusing them of “blocking the adoption of TruePosition’s already existing and broadly deployed technologies into the new standards for LTE, while at the same time ensuring that their own unproven technologies were included into the new standards.”
