Thai operator True Move is reported to have stepped-up its spat with rival DTAC, by calling for the regulator to revoke its rival’s rights to operate a mobile network in the country. According to the Bangkok Post, True Move is arguing that DTAC is majority owned by foreigners, specifically Norway’s Telenor “and its allies.” Regulator National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has apparently said there is little it can do, as DTAC is not its direct licensee: any challenge will need to be overseen by the Commerce Ministry, under the Foreign Business Act. The commerce ministry has, in turn, commenced an investigation.
