Sanjoy Mukherjee, Vodafone India’s chief commercial officer, is to leave the mobile operator to set up a health venture, according to The Economic Times. Mukherjee will join up with the former CEO of PepsiCo India Foods Varun Berry to work on the start-up although there was no indication to what extent it would be a mobile-based business.

The Vodafone executive, whose responsibilities include sales and marketing, brand, customer service and channel management, leaves in October for the new venture.  The article quoted an industry executive saying the new venture may invest in health projects but could not confirm and did not supply further details.

Another senior executive called Samaresh Parida, who handles special projects, is also leaving Vodafone India but does not appear to be joining the health venture. He leaves at the end of August.
