Telefonica Germany has been able to identify EUR1.8 million in annual savings following a successful energy saving pilot with the GSMA. The Mobile Energy Efficiency Optimisation project, which Nokia Siemens Networks also contributed to, saw the operator use the GSMA’s benchmarking service on its network to lower energy costs and reduce its carbon footprint. Over the past three years, the operator has improved network energy efficiency by 14 percent per connection.
