T-Mobile USA is to offer Motorola’s new Android-powered handset – Cliq – from October 19 for US$199.99 on a two-year contract, reports Reuters. Pre-sales will run from that date until 1 November, after which time the device will be available widely in T-Mobile USA stores.

The Cliq is Motorola’s first of what is expected to be a line of devices that run on the Android operating system developed by Google. Motorola has reorganised its entire handset division around Android as it looks to regain market share following recent declines. As well as the US, the Cliq will be available soon in the UK and France (via Orange), Spain (Telefonica) and Latin America (America Movil). Orange UK has already said it will offer the device for free to customers on a £34.26 per month, 24-month contract, from early October.
