Dow Jones Newswires reports that Swisscom yesterday said it supports the planned merger of rivals France Telecom’s and TDC AS’s Swiss units, which has been blocked by Swiss competition officials. Incumbent Swisscom is the country’s largest telecom player with a 62 percent share of Switzerland’s mobile market, according to Wireless Intelligence. France Telecom’s unit Orange and TDC’s Sunrise have market shares of 17 percent and 21 percent, respectively.
