SMS will contribute US$1 trillion to mobile service revenues between 2012 and 2016, while voice revenue will fall “only slightly” over the same period, according to Infonetics Research. The global mobile services market will grow to US$976 billion by 2016, driven by demand for mobile broadband services. “While mobile broadband is no doubt the fastest growing revenue stream for operators, mobile messaging and voice aren’t dead just yet,” said Infonetics Research principal analyst Stephane Teral.
