SK C&C, the technology services affiliate of South Korean conglomerate SK Group, is in talks with US operators Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile USA, as well as US banks, to supply mobile payment systems. “We expect to see around US$200 million-US$300 million in annual sales from our global mobile commerce business after five years,” chief executive Kim Shin-bae told Dow Jones Newswires. Of the amount, the US market alone will account for half of the sales, Kim added. Kim’s comments came shortly after the three major US mobile carriers announced a joint venture, dubbed Isis, that will allow their customers to pay for goods and services with their smartphones in a rare tie-up among the rival carriers.
