SingTel added a net 64 million new users (+33 percent) in the year to 30 June 2009, and reported strong growth from its regional associates, according to a TeleGeography report that cites a statement from the operator. The group’s aggregate mobile base in all eight regional markets – Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand – climbed 13 million (+5.1 percent) on a quarterly basis, noting that India’s Bharti reported the single largest increase, with subscriber numbers up 33 million (+48 percent) in the year to 102.4 million. The Indian company also achieved its highest ever quarterly net additions of 8.4 million in 2Q09, and controlled a market share of 24 percent as at 30 June 2009.
