Saudi Telecom plans to merge its tower assets with Etisalat-owned Mobily before it sells a stake in the tower business, thereby making the acquisition far more attractive for bidders such as SREI Infrastructur Finance and GTL Infrastructure, reports the Economic Times. The new entity would comprise 14,500 towers, and account for nearly 70 percent market share in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Telecom had earlier invited bids for its 11,000 towers, and shortlisted consortia led by SREI and GTL Infrastructure.
