Samsung has created an app for its Galaxy S4 smartphone that is designed to encourage users to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

The S Health Buddy app, which is free in the Google Play store, comes with an avatar whose size adjusts as the user (hopefully) loses weight through exercise.

Users get to choose from five avatars – two male, two female and one animal. The app appears to follow the standard motivational approach of a leadership board and badges.

The app is currently only available for users in Korea.

It is not, however, Samsung’s first crack at the health market. Last year, it launched the original S Health app.
