Russia’s Vitaportal has closed a US$2 million series A round led by Prostor Capital, a local investment fund, and joined by high profile investor Esther Dyson.

Vitaportal offers an online and mobile health advice service to users. It offers the reassurance that all its advice is reviewed by doctors. Investment rounds in such ventures are not uncommon in the US but rarer in Russia.

The company was launched by Fastlane Ventures, itself a leading investor in online businesses.  Vitaportal will use the funding to develop its user-personalisation-based technology, including online health management tools as well as a hospital and doctor ranking system.

Vitaportal now offer more than 30 health management and personalisation tools which it says have been accessed by more than one million people during the past six months.
