RIM, Motorola tweak nano-SIM design

18 MAY 2012

RIM and Motorola have altered their proposed design for the next-generation nano-SIM card to move closer to Apple’s version, reports Engadget. The design uses the simple rectangular style preferred by Apple but also includes a notch to allow for the “push-push” mechanism that other handset makers use to fix SIM cards in place. Handset makers have been unable to agree on what design should become the standard nano-SIM design but Apple has also recently shown a design that addresses concerns of other companies. An ETSI vote on which nano-SIM design will be adopted as the industry standard is due to take place in the coming weeks.
