The health sector could see additional revenue of US$69 billion by 2020 thanks to the popularity of M2M-capable connected devices, according to newly-published GSMA-led research. The potential revenue boom for the healthcare and other sectors will come from the sheer ubiquity of connected devices. The research predicts that the number of M2M devices will hit 24 billion in 2020. Other sectors to benefit include consumer electronics, automotive and utilities. The research was released by the GSMA with the support of AT&T, Deutsche Bank, KT, Telenor Connexion and Vodafone and in partnership with Machina Research.
