Orascom Telecom has delayed the appointment of international arbitrators in its long-running dispute with the Algerian authorities, hoping instead to reach an “amicable” settlement on the ownership of its Djezzy business in the country, Reuters reports. Citing comments from Naguib Sawiris, Chairman of Orascom, it was suggested that an agreement will be made easier by the sale of Orascom’s assets to Russian operator Vimpelcom.
