America Movil must give up 20MHz of spectrum if its proposed acquisition of El Salvador number four operator Digicel is to be approved by the country’s competition watchdog, reports Reuters. Digicel agreed to sell its operations in El Salvador and Honduras to America Movil in March in a deal that would also see America Movil sell its Jamaican business to Digicel. No financial terms for either deal were disclosed. America Movil operates in a number of Latin American countries under the Claro brand and is owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.
