Alcatel-Lucent will credit Telecom New Zealand NZD100 million to compensate the operator for the problems with the XT mobile network, according to The BusinessDay. Telecom experienced major outages on the new WCDMA network, built by Alcatel-Lucent, earlier this year with compensation packages to customers expected to cost the company NZD15 million. Meanwhile the operator reported Friday a 39 percent fall in third-quarter net profit, hit by a lower contribution from its half-owned cable company and costs arising from outages at its XT mobile network, but the company maintained its guidance for the full year. The company also today signed agreements with telcos Digital Island, Telcoinabox and Zintel Cogent to allow them to use its 3G network.
