Qualcomm is making the SDK for its 2net platform available as a means to encourage developers to produce apps for the hub that collects patient’s medical data. The SDK, which is available free of charge, was launched during the company’s Uplinq developer conference on 27-28 June and is available for what the company says are all data-enabled mobile platforms including Android, iOS and Microsoft. Qualcomm first announced the 2net platform at the end of last year.

Developers can create apps that take advantage of having access to the 2net platform which collects data from the sensor on a medical device and sends to a user’s smartphone as well as healthcare providers and physicians. Qualcomm has also announced a developer challenge for the best 2net app with US$20,000 awarded to the winner.
